If you are an entrepreneur or you work from home, we know it can be hard to stay motivated to work throughout the day. BUT! You likely have a desk or work space that you can make your own.

To foster your creativity and bring joy to your work, we really encourage designing your desk in a way that makes you feel calm, cozy, and productive. Here are some desk designing inspiration tips:

Colorado+Wedding+Design
  1. Start with a space that has ample natural light. A lamp of some sort is great for the times you need a little extra lighting or are working early in the morning or late at night, but it is really important to have natural light! This will keep you awake and ready for the days work.

  2. If you can control where your workspace is - make sure it is a quiet area. Many don’t work well in absolute silence, but a quiet room that you can add a little soft music to works perfectly to help you focus and get those productive juices flowing.

  3. Do not clutter your desk with decor, but focus on enhancing it and making it pleasing to the eye so you can enjoy your space. We don’t recommend having bright colors anywhere either because it can be distracting, and we just prefer soft, neutral colors

  4. Place a few of your favorite books or some you are reading in one corner. Grab one when you need a break or just to simply remind you of something positive.

  5. Take a moment on the first day of each month to think of a quote or a goal you want to focus on to keep you motivated. A clipboard with a simple watercolor quote attached is an easy and beautiful way to decorate your desk, add height, and not have to hang anything on the wall. You don’t have to be an artist to do this. Grab a watercolor palette or one of your favorite markers and let yourself be creative.

  6. Your favorite candle for warmth and coziness. Pick a scent you like to keep you happy at your desk.

  7. One plant… just one. I know it’s hard not to just have a bunch of your favorite plant friends with you are your desk… but one (okay, or two) is good enough to make your desk feel like a lively and bright space. Taking care of a plan that you live might also keep you coming back to your desk - as we know that can be hard to do when you can work anywhere!

  8. A blank calendar hung on the wall for easy reference of dates… but we prefer to keep our schedules in our online calendar rather than trying to fit a busy schedule into a physical calendar.

  9. Your favorite writing utensil in a drawer or pretty cup. Something about writing with your favorite pen just can’t be beat. We always write in black ink, but if you’re into colors, then get them all! Having a good utensil can help you be organized in your work.

  10. Finally, hold yourself accountable to reset your desk at the end of each and every day. It is like making your bed in the morning. Having a clean and organized desk will help you improve your productivity...we promise!

We encourage you to have a place that you consistently work and we think a desk is best.
