After the gorgeous backyard wedding we coordinated last Saturday in Fort Collins for Hannah + Jonathan, we were reminded of how important some things are for a backyard wedding!
We can’t wait to show you sneak peek photos of their wedding day, because it was gorgeous, well planned, and so much fun!
They had a beautiful vision for their wedding and it came true that day, in their family’s backyard. It was a gorgeous space with the perfect landscaping and layout to host their wedding ceremony and reception! Be on the lookout for sneak peeks of their big day, but until then, here are some tips if you’re thinking about having a backyard wedding!
You don’t have to have a professional venue, but we recommend hiring professionals to take care of the rest! Having a backyard wedding can be stressful, but it is such a great option if you have the perfect space, so hire the pros! Bartender, caterer, DJ, photographer, florist, and coordinator! If you hire someone great for each of these responsibilities, your focus can be on making the space perfect for your big day.
Have a back-up plan for weather. We recommend renting a large tent to put in your yard, over dinner tables and the dance floor. By having a covered space, you can ensure your day carries on regardless of what the weather decides to do. In Colorado, we can never be sure what will happen, so a backup plan for all weather is a good idea.
Rent a dance floor! If the backyard space doesn’t have a big open patio, renting and setting up a dance floor is our recommendation! Everyone wants a good dance party during their reception so investing in this rental will be worth it!
4. Setting up big things, such as the dance floor, tents, and tables, beforehand and working with your coordinator to have all decor for the day-of figured out and under control can also help your big day run smoothly. A coordinator is essential to this process so that your friends and family can enjoy celebrating YOU, and not worry about all the little details - leave it to the pros! We love details, and we can’t wait to hear about all of your special details.
5. Have fun! It’s easy to worry about everything when you’re in a familiar place without staff from a venue to assist you. But! If you hire the right team, your day will be taken care of for you and you can enjoy your dream day to start your happily ever after!
